Weather Outside = Frightful
Today is my birthday. To celebrate, we are going to the Royals game. Six hours before game time, snow is falling.

TreeUI
A drunk* driver crashed into the sweetgum tree in our front yard tonight.

I was studying economics in the den, and Gracie was lying next to me when we heard a police siren and saw headlights and flashing lights through the blinds. Kristin ran downstairs, and we snooped through the living room blinds. Then, we heard the police officer shout, "Turn off the car!"

Until Kristin looked more closely, I thought the officer was making a routine traffic stop. The stopped SUV had driven over the curb and hit the tree.

The driver had trouble walking and was disoriented. Kristin noticed a KU license plate, and we figured this chap had overindulged while celebrating the Kansas men's basketball team's victory over Davidson, a commuter school in the No. 10 seed.

After a few minutes, the police officer spotted Kristin peeking through the window, waved his flashlight and came to the door. He took my information and said he would return with a copy of the report.

Fortunately, no one was injured, and our tree shows no signs of damage. At worst, the SUV knocked a couple landscape bricks out of position.

The officer said a neighbor down the street had called the police because the driver was idling at the yield sign at the corner for 20-30 minutes. When the officer arrived, the driver began moving at about 5 mph. He drove over the curb and "crashed."

*Allegedly.

No. 1s
All the No. 1 seeds are in the Final Four, and I am currently No. 1 in our free company-sponsored office pool. If North Carolina and Memphis win, and if North Carolina wins it all, I win a gift card. Whee!

Sweet Sweding Scene
My favorite part of Be Kind Rewind is the montage that shows the characters sweding Carrie, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Men in Black and other movies all in a row. It looks like one continuous shot.

Netflix rating: Three stars.

Oingo Boingo? Fandango? Bingo Was Its Name-O?
Today, I took a Dreamweaver class. The instructor was talking about how a database or CMS can feed a Web site. A fellow student asked what CMS means. The instructor replied, "Content management system." He gave one example of a CMS.

Then, he furrowed his brow and said the name of another CMS was slipping his mind. "I want to say ... mango?" he said.

"Django," I said.

"Yes. Django."
